A Turbulent Self-Introduction
As the classroom buzzed with excitement for the new semester, the sound of light heels echoed from the hallway. Then, the door burst open—or rather, almost did.
“Wahh!”
With a high-pitched cry, a petite woman tripped spectacularly at the classroom entrance, sending the papers she was holding flying into the air. The room fell silent for a moment.
“I-I’m okay!”
Quickly standing up, she steadied herself against a desk and flashed an embarrassed smile.
The murmuring in the classroom gradually subsided as the new teacher at the front began scanning the class with her gaze.
All the students’ eyes were fixed on her. She was petite, about 150 centimeters tall, with a cute, childlike face. Her features were distinctive—big, round eyes and rounded cheeks gave her a charming, almost anime-like appearance.
However, her ample chest, which seemed oddly out of place with her youthful look, naturally drew everyone’s attention. The boys couldn’t help but murmur about its volume, even through her clothes. Oblivious to their reactions, she began introducing herself with a bright smile.
Reo felt a slight irritation rising in his chest as he watched her, but the next moment, that feeling turned into something else entirely.
(Those boobs are cheating.)
His eyes were drawn to her chest, unable to look away. He thought to himself, (I’m definitely going to get those boobs,) and felt his excitement grow.
“Um… I’m Michino Hiyori! Starting today, I’ll be your homero… um, homeroom teacher!”
After a brief silence, stifled laughter escaped from the class. Flustered, Hiyori waved her hands and corrected herself, “Homeroom! I’ll be your homeroom teacher!” She bowed slightly, her face red, but her small smile remained.
“S-sorry. I’m just a little nervous…”
Seeing her flustered demeanor, Maria and Chiharu exchanged kind smiles, while Reo smirked to himself, thinking, (So she’s new. If I play nice and keep the class in line, this’ll be a breeze.)
“Well then! I’m still new at this, but let’s create a fun class together!”
As Hiyori spoke brightly, spreading her arms slightly, warm laughter began to ripple through the classroom. Her approachable personality seemed to ease the earlier tension.
“I’d like to get to know you all better, so could you please give me a brief self-introduction?”
With a cheerful smile, she prompted them. “Please tell me your name and something you like or are good at.”
Reo was the first to raise his hand.
“Tendou Reo. I like motorcycles and having fun. …And, Sensei, please don’t push yourself too hard, okay?”
His words brought laughter to the room, and Hiyori blushed, replying, “Got it! I’ll do my best!”
Next, Maria stood up.
“Amane Maria. I like reading books. I hope to enjoy my time with everyone.”
Her cool voice caused a stir among the boys, but Maria remained unfazed, quietly returning to her seat. Reo muttered under his breath, “She’s still out of my league.”
When it was Kanon’s turn to introduce herself, the classroom fell silent for a moment. She stood up, her poised posture accentuated by the sunlight streaming through the window, which gently reflected off her bobbed brown hair.
“Jinguji Kanon. I like collecting cute trinkets and sweets. Oh, and my favorite animal is cats. Um… nice to meet you.”
Although her tone was modest, her voice was clear, and her lovely smile made some of the boys murmur, “Oh, she likes cats? That’s awesome.” “Kanon-chan is so cute.”
Kanon returned to her seat, looking slightly embarrassed but with a hint of confidence in her expression.
“Cats, huh… I like cats too.”
Reo muttered with a smirk, and the boy next to him teased, “Then say that during your self-introduction.” The whole classroom chuckled, and Hiyori nodded reassuringly.
Maria observed Kanon with a meaningful smile, while Subaru, watching the boys’ reactions from the corner of his eye, wore a complex expression.
Subaru felt his turn approaching and sighed deeply in his heart.
(Self-introductions, huh… I hate this part the most.)
Self-introductions had been a source of anxiety for Subaru since middle school. He never knew what to say and doubted anyone cared to hear about him.
(I can only say ordinary things, and I’m sure no one wants to hear that.)
As others confidently showcased their hobbies and talents, Subaru became acutely aware of his own lack of presence.
Glancing around, he noticed Reo sitting relaxed with a nonchalant expression. Meanwhile, Maria and Kanon exuded an effortless aura that naturally drew attention.
(Compared to them, I’m just… nothing more than ordinary.)
He involuntarily clenched his fists. Suddenly, his conversation with Maria came to mind.
“The important thing is to try talking first. I’m sure you’ll be fine just as you are, Sorano-kun.”
Remembering her smile and words, Subaru tried to relax his tense shoulders.
(It’s okay to be ordinary. For now, I’ll just talk about what I can do. That’s the only thing I can do.)
The next moment, his name was called. Subaru slowly stood up and began speaking in a slightly trembling voice.
“Um… I’m Sorano Subaru. My family runs a café, and I help out sometimes, so I’m a little good at cooking.”
The classroom buzzed with excitement. The girls exclaimed, “Oh, a boy who can cook? That’s great!” “A café? That’s so cool!”
“Sorano-kun, what kind of dishes can you make?”
When one of the girls asked, Subaru replied shyly, “I’m good at making omelets, I guess.” The girls grew even more excited, shouting, “Omelets are the best!” “I want you to make me one!”
Reo snorted in annoyance and muttered under his breath. Looking over, Subaru saw him slumped in his chair, wearing a bored expression.
“Huh, so that’s what impresses people, huh…”
Reo’s muttering caused Maria to furrow her brows slightly. However, Subaru, still caught up in answering the girls’ questions, remained unaware.
Seeing the exchange, Hiyori’s eyes lit up. “That’s wonderful! I’d love to try your omelet someday!”
Maria nodded gently, her gaze fixed on Subaru, while Reo scowled deeper, resting his chin on his hand.
Next, Yuto raised his hand.
“Kiritani Yuto. I like weightlifting! If you like weightlifting too, feel free to talk to me!”
His straightforward introduction brought laughter to the room, and Hiyori responded with admiration, “That’s so healthy! I like that!”
Lastly, Chiharu stood up.
“Yasaka Chiharu. I like listening to music. Nice to meet you all.”
Her calm, reserved voice resonated through the room, and Maria gave her a gentle look. Hiyori noticed this and smiled warmly.
Once everyone finished their introductions, Hiyori clasped her hands in front of her chest and said,
“I feel like I’ve gotten to know you all a little better! Let’s create a fun class together from now on!”
Warm applause filled the classroom in response to her bright smile and words.
Subaru felt a sense of relief from Hiyori’s warmth and friendliness, and he found himself looking forward to the new semester ahead.
