Dominating in PE Class (1)
Compared to English class, PE class was where I truly excelled as a former hero.
The first half of the second semester’s PE curriculum focused mainly on basketball in the gymnasium.
Today, we used two courts—one for boys’ games and the other for girls’.
The class was divided into three teams per court, with two teams playing while the third took turns refereeing during their break.
My team’s opponent had Date-kun, a charming and athletic guy who had become a regular on the basketball team as a first-year.
Because of that, my team members had given up on winning from the start. But I wasn’t about to give up so easily.
(I’ll play without relying on any combat-related hero skills. I’ll win using only my physical abilities!)
After all, if I used something like [Goddess Breath]—a skill that greatly enhances my physical abilities—I’d end up casually jumping 20 meters into the air.
That would definitely cause a scene.
So, when I matched up one-on-one with Date-kun, I relied solely on the physical abilities I had honed over the past five years and challenged him head-on.
Using the superhuman reflexes I’d developed in real battles, I stopped his dribble with ease and blocked his shots with my exceptional jumping ability.
Anticipating his every move, I intercepted his passes, turned the game around, and quickly dribbled the ball into enemy territory.
“Whoa—!”
From the free-throw line, I leapt into the air, almost seeming to walk on it, and delivered a powerful dunk!
Thanks to my dominant performance, our team shattered expectations and won the game in a landslide.
After the match, Date-kun stood frozen, his mouth agape, staring at me in disbelief.
“Hey, isn’t Date-kun a first-year regular on the basketball team? If Oda-kun can beat him, that’s seriously amazing!”
“That’s insane!”
“Yeah, totally! I never knew Oda-kun was this athletic!”
“And did you notice? Oda-kun’s got a lean, toned build!”
“He’s been so cheerful and refreshing since the second semester started, too.”
“Wait a minute—Oda-kun’s actually kind of amazing, isn’t he?”
“Right?”
“Hey, Hasumin! You sit next to him, and you’re the class rep and vice-rep. You’ve been talking to Oda-kun a lot lately, right? What kind of person is he?”
“Huh? M-me?”
“What’s with that reaction? Why are you getting so flustered?”
“I-I’m not flustered or anything! Besides, it’s not like Shuhei-kun and I are super close or anything. We’re just friends.”
“Shuhei-kun?”
“Uh, um… yeah…”
“Hey, did you all hear that? She called him Shuhei-kun!”
“Wow, Hasumin. Calling him by his name? You two must be pretty close, huh?”
“Wait, is Hasumin blushing? Could it be that Hasumin—”
“N-no! Don’t just assume I like Shuhei-kun or anything!”
“Oh, really? That’s funny, because I didn’t even say anything about you liking him yet!”
“Hasumin, are you, like, totally into him?”
“Wha—!?”
“Alright, girls! Just because Oda’s amazing doesn’t mean you can ignore your own game. This is still class time—get back to your match or I’ll deduct points!”
““““Yes, sorry—!””””
Scolded by the PE teacher for watching the boys’ game and getting too excited, the girls reluctantly returned to their own match.
Once the PE teacher quieted them down, he walked over to me, where I was refereeing during the break.
