Remina’s Strength
“Y-you’re gonna cut me!? Woman! Don’t get full of yourself just because the guy who got runner-up in the swordsmanship tournament is standing next to you!!”
“No matter what you say, it doesn’t matter… if you disgrace his effort and the results he achieved, I will never forgive you.”
“Never forgive me!?”
Hearing Remina-san’s words, the man’s face flushed red with anger, and it looked like he was about to snap and slash at her at any moment.
I could tell she was angry because he insulted me, but I absolutely didn’t want anything to happen that would cause Remina-san to get hurt.
“Remina-san, please step back! I’ll neutralize this man!”
I gripped my sword with both hands as I said that.
But Remina-san stepped forward even more, closing the distance between herself and the man right in front of her.
“R-Remina-san!?”
“I’ve never swung my sword in front of you… This is a good chance, so I shall show you my sword here.”
Remina-san’s sword… Come to think of it, she once said she could tell a person’s ability just by looking at their hands, so she might be able to use a sword to some extent, but…
“No! Please step back!!”
I cannot use that as a reason for me not to fight when I can fight!
“There is nothing to worry about… the chance of me being defeated by this man is less than one in ten thousand.”
“B-but…”
“Woman! You made a fool out of me, so you’d better be ready!!”
“…You questioned my resolve, and on top of that, you spewed all kinds of insults at him… so you are the one who had better be ready.”
Those words carried an unbelievable strength and weight.
The man, overwhelmed by that crushing presence and the weight behind her words, twitched as his expression stiffened, but he tried to hide it by raising his voice.
“I’ve had enough! Die already!!”
He drew his sword and swung it in a wide arc toward Remina-san.
“Remina-san!”
I also drew my sword and kicked off the ground, trying to leap between her and the man, but…
“Your swing is needlessly wide, your sword path is wavering, and your control of distance is nonexistent… to think you could still talk that big to me, and to him.”
Right after she muttered that.
Remina-san swiftly drew her sword, then moved at incredible speed and struck the man’s sword from his hand.
“Wha…!?”
As the man stood there, unable to hide his shock that his sword had flown out of his hand, Remina-san placed her blade at his neck and spoke.
“First, let me hear you offer him your apology.”
“Hii…!!”
Being forced to face a blade at his unprotected neck, the man collapsed in fear as he let out that scream.
Watching that brief moment of movement, I was deeply shocked inside.
Deflecting that man’s sword would be one thing, but to knock it out of his hand…!
To knock away his sword like that, she would have had to instantly read from the way he gripped it where the point with the weakest force was, and predict the sword’s trajectory…
That is something I definitely still cannot do, and Florence-san might even say she cannot do it either.
As I stood there stunned and speechless from watching Remina-san’s movements, the man shouted loudly.
“I-I was wrong!! Please spare my life!!”
“Spare you? It seems you still don’t understand the situation… Rodwell, I’m sorry, but could you wait here for a moment? I will return shortly.”
“O-okay! But, um… if possible, please don’t do anything too harsh…”
“I know. I will simply make him repent for his actions and find out why he did something like this.”
“Thank you! Then I’ll wait here!”
Hearing those words, I felt relieved and decided to wait for Remina-san to return just as she told me.
Rezamiliana’s Side
Rezamiliana brought the man to an alley a short distance away from where Lux was, then placed her hand on her sword’s hilt and spoke in a heavy tone.
“…In front of him, I said that so as not to burden him with unnecessary worry… but if you take any action that goes against my will, I will cut you down without mercy.”
“Hii!!”
The man collapsed again at her words, but Rezamiliana paid no attention to that and fixed him with a sharp glare as she spoke.
“There was an unnaturally small number of people in the area where we were earlier… that is why I was able to draw my sword, but it was probably a place prepared for you to swing your blade at him… and something like that would be impossible unless someone was a high-ranking noble… now answer. Tell me the name of the person who prepared that place and sent you to harm him.”
As she said that, Rezamiliana drew her sword again and pointed the tip at the man.
