Remina’s Visit
“Thank you very much!”
Because Florence-san was gone, I’d been serving customers alone for a while.
When the last customer left, it became the lunch break time determined by the nobles’ academy rules, so I decided to take a breath.
“Florence-san and Felisiana-sama still haven’t come back… I hope they’re alright.”
I thought I should check on them… but.
Even if I went, the only thing I knew was the direction they walked, so I’d practically have to search blindly.
On top of that, if I left, the stall would be unattended, so if something happened while I was gone, I wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Thinking that, I wondered if it was better to wait here quietly.
While I worried over what I should do, a woman approached the stall and spoke to me.
“I’d like to buy flowers. Is that alright?”
“Ah, I’m sorry… right now it’s lunch—”
As I spoke and looked at the woman’s face, I stopped mid-sentence without meaning to.
The woman had long, glossy wine-red hair and sharp red eyes. She carried a dignified presence… it was Remina-san.
After Elina-san and Felisiana-sama had visited, I never imagined that even Remina-san would come, so I fell silent in surprise… but.
When my mind finally caught up with what was happening, I opened my mouth.
“R-Remina-san! Thank you for coming!”
“There’s no need to thank me.”
Remina-san said that, yet since I wanted to express my gratitude, I didn’t retract my thanks.
“You came to buy flowers today, right?”
“Yes.”
If that was the case, I wanted to sell them to her right away… but.
“I’m sorry… It’s lunch break right now, and during this time we’re required not to conduct business.”
“Lunch break, I see.”
Remina-san lowered her face slightly and continued in a voice so quiet I could barely hear it.
“I planned to buy flowers from you and offer them as a farewell tribute… but my life never goes the way I want.”
“…Remina-san?”
It was rare to see Remina-san, who was always dignified, with her face lowered, so I called her name.
Remina-san lifted her head.
“It’s nothing… you said it’s lunch break now, then don’t mind me and rest properly.”
Leaving those words behind, Remina-san turned her back to me and started to walk away. Her back looked different than usual, as if some energy was missing.
“Please wait!”
The words escaped before I realized. As Remina-san turned back toward me, I continued.
“It’s true we can’t sell flowers right now because of the rules… but we can talk. If you have time, could we talk together now?”
Rezamiliana’s Side
“…Just the two of us?”
“Yes!”
Lux nodded with a bright and gentle expression that didn’t waver.
No… I came here today to sever my feelings for you.
A brief conversation when buying flowers, and the flowers themselves.
With only that as a farewell, she had decided in her heart to sever her feelings for Lux and forget him.
If we’re given a place to talk alone, I’ll surely end up wishing not to give up… and thinking that I want to be with you.
So she needed to refuse Lux’s invitation… but.
“…”
If you say something like that while looking at me with such earnest eyes… there’s no way I could refuse.
“Alright… let’s talk for a bit.”
“Thank you so much!”
The two of them moved to the wall nearby and began to talk privately.
The moment when Rezamiliana would have to choose between the country and its laws or Lux was already close at hand.
