Chapter 270: Outburst
Elizalina’s Side
When Elizalina saw Lux freeze up after being suddenly invited to participate in an event hosted by Second Princess Elizalina, she spoke to ease his tension.
“Of course, it’s not like I’m asking you to do anything there, Lux, okay? It’s fine if you just come to the venue.”
“Is that so?”
“Yeah.”
As Lux nervously took in Elizalina’s words and asked again, Elizalina gently nodded.
Even though it’s an event I’m hosting, Lux doesn’t need to be that tense… he’s really serious, but that’s also what makes him cute!
While Elizalina was thinking such carefree thoughts, Lux, in stark contrast to her relaxed mood, opened his mouth with a troubled look on his face.
“But wouldn’t there be people who’d find it troublesome if someone like me went to an event hosted by Second Princess Elizalina-sama, especially one where there’ll be lots of dukes and other nobles…?”
“It’s fine! The only people who can participate in that event are those who received an invitation, and if they complained about it, that’d be the same as complaining to Elizalina-sama herself.”
She adds that there aren’t any nobles who’d do something like that.
I mean, even if there were someone who said or thought Lux being there was a nuisance, I’d just deal with them.
When Elizalina, who wanted Lux to participate in tomorrow’s event no matter what, persuaded him like that, Lux’s expression softened with a bit of relief as he spoke.
“If that’s the case, then I think I’ll participate.”
“Really!?”
“Yes. Since Elina-san went out of her way to invite me like this… and I have a bit of a connection with Elizalina-sama, so I’m a little curious about what kind of event she’s going to hold.”
“…Lux, what do you think of Elizalina-sama?”
She rarely had a chance to ask something like this, so Elizalina, genuinely curious about what Lux thought of her, asked, and Lux answered without hesitation.
“I think she’s someone with a kindness so great that she can mediate an entire large country.”
“…!”
No, no, no, that’s bad, Lux! Hearing you say something like that straight from your mouth, alone together in Lux’s room…!
But Lux, who didn’t even know that the person right in front of him was Elizalina herself, let alone notice her feelings, continued speaking.
“She’s so easy to interact with that you’d never think she was royalty, and recently, when I happened to meet her, she even taught me my studies… I really felt happy that I was born in a country governed by her.”
“…!?”
Happy that you were born in a country I govern…? You really… you really thought of it that way.
Lux had praised her mediation as kindness before, but Elizalina had never imagined he felt that deeply, so she was honestly surprised.
Most nobles and commoners alike, even if peace has been brought to the country, think of it as something ordinary they’ve simply grown used to.
You could even say they don’t think about it at all.
Because of that, there are hardly any people who feel genuine gratitude or happiness toward the person who brings peace to the country, or even toward the peace itself.
But Lux is different.
He truly sees the peace within the country, and beyond that, Elizalina herself.
And on top of that, he says he’s happy to have been born in a country governed by Elizalina.
Lux really is looking at me… Lux… Lux… Lux…
“Ahaha, I’m sorry, it kind of turned into me talking about myself.”
Maybe because he spoke so honestly about how he feels toward Elizalina, Lux lets out an embarrassed, wry smile.
I have to wait until tomorrow, I know I do, I know I do, I know I do…
Her heartbeat quickens.
Honestly.
I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you!!
“…Elina-san?”
“…”
Elizalina stands up from the sofa, then sits down on Lux’s bed behind her and speaks with flushed cheeks.
“Hey, Lux… I feel like my body’s a little hot, so could you come over here and take a look at me?”
…Elizalina can no longer suppress this outburst of feelings.
