Chapter 277: The Day of the Event
Siana’s Side
“I checked with Lux-kun about what you told me, and it seems he really was invited to the event Elizalina-anesama is hosting today.”
…Last night, while Siana was out shopping.
Violet had overheard the conversation that took place between Lux and Elizalina in Lux’s room.
After Elizalina left, Violet conveyed the key points of that conversation to Siana.
And now, the following morning.
When Siana confirmed the truth with Lux and even saw the invitation with her own eyes, she concluded that Lux had indeed been invited to the event hosted by Elizalina.
“I figured that if she was doing this to be united with Lux-kun, she’d obviously involve Lux-kun as well, but…”
“By making use of the timing, the day before the event, which we’d normally see as an advantage, she ended up catching us off guard instead.”
“Yes…”
If Elizalina had invited Lux several days ago…
Siana could’ve used her authority as the Third Princess to create something that would seem more important than Elizalina’s event and steer Lux in that direction instead.
But since it was the day before, and now it was already the day of the event, it was extremely difficult to pull strings behind the scenes to keep Lux from attending.
And as Siana the maid, it’d be unnatural to say, “Please don’t attend the event Elizalina-sama is holding today,” so preventing Lux from going was practically impossible.
“At this point, what we can do is pretty limited.”
With that as a preface, Siana turned to Violet and said,
“For now, the two of us will stay with Lux-kun all day and make sure we can protect him no matter what happens.”
“Understood.”
Unlike people like the Lage faction, Elizalina doesn’t hate Lux.
If anything, she likes him, so she probably won’t cause him physical harm, but…
“…Especially if Elizalina-anesama tries to take Lux-kun to an inn or something, I’ll punish her on the spot.”
Siana believed there was a possibility that, out of love, Elizalina might try to violate Lux in ways other than physical harm.
In fact, if neither Siana nor Violet had been at the mansion yesterday, there was no telling what Elizalina might’ve done with Lux.
Because it was the very next day after that, when Siana emphasized this point, Violet paused briefly before replying.
“Punishment may not be the wisest course of action when considering what comes next, but if it comes to that, I’ll restrain her.”
“Honestly, if she tried to drag Lux-kun to an inn, I’d want to cut her down on the spot, but… I suppose that can’t be helped.”
With that exchange over, it was about time Lux had said he’d be leaving the mansion, so Siana left her room and went to see him off.
Lux’s Side
As the time written on the invitation I’d received from Elina-san yesterday, for the event hosted by Second Princess Elizalina-sama, drew near.
When I arrived by the carriage in front of the mansion to head to the venue where the event was being held, Siana, who’d come to see me off, spoke to me.
“Master, you’ll be attending the event hosted by Elizalina-sama today, correct? Once the event is over, will you be returning right away?”
“Yeah, of course. I don’t want to stay out too late and make you worry, Siana.”
“Ah…! Thank you for your consideration, Master…! Then please have a safe trip!”
After that brief exchange, as I fondly watched Siana bow her head and cheerfully see me off as usual…
I boarded the carriage in front of me and headed for the venue where Elizalina-sama’s event was being held.
I was just one participant, and I didn’t know if I’d even get a chance to speak with Elizalina-sama, but even so.
Just thinking that I might be able to see Elizalina-sama again made me really excited already.
