Chapter 304: Confirmation
Elizalina’s Side
Even after Lux left the garden.
The two of them, Elizalina and Siana, remained lost in their own thoughts.
“…It’s Lux’s fault, you know? He’s the one who said I was beautiful, cute, and charming…”
“…It’s Lux-kun’s fault, you know? He’s the one who said I was beautiful, cute, and charming…”
Ever since Lux had told them, “I can’t choose which of you is cuter, Siana or Elizalina-sama! To me, both of you are truly beautiful, adorable, and incredibly charming as women!!” they had been completely absorbed in their own worlds.
Then, almost at the same moment, both of them snapped back to their senses, their eyes flying open.
Elizalina turned to Siana.
“Hey! Wait a second, Felisiana! I was supposed to be the only one getting called cute by Lux, so don’t just barge in like that!”
“It was careless of me not to completely prevent Lux-kun from praising your appearance, Elizalina-anesama, but that doesn’t mean I would overlook him calling any woman other than me cute.”
“…Sigh. And now my alone time with Lux is over too. Today’s plans are completely ruined.”
As Elizalina spoke with open disappointment, Siana answered firmly.
“Just as I would never allow Lux-kun to call any woman other than me cute, there is no world in which I would allow him to spend a holiday alone with any woman other than me.”
“…So there’s no way you’d allow Lux and me to be alone together, huh.”
Elizalina’s voice was calm.
She continued, her gaze fixed on Siana.
“Then why did you allow Lux and me to be alone together until just now, Felisiana?”
“…!”
Siana gasped softly, her eyes sharpening, yet no words followed.
I probably shouldn’t hand her hints like this… but even if we’re rivals over Lux, she’s still my adorable little sister.
Thinking that, Elizalina spoke again.
“I told you last night, didn’t I? That you keep looking at everything except the one thing you should be watching most closely.”
“I did think about that. Between yesterday and today, at least.”
“Oh? And what answer did you come to?”
“…First of all, I don’t know what you intended by those words, Elizalina-anesama. But the one thing I should be watching most closely is Lux-kun. That much is certain.”
Her expression showed absolute conviction.
Then she continued.
“If I apply that answer to what you said, it would mean I’ve been looking at things other than what I should be watching most closely… in other words, things other than Lux-kun. But my conclusion is that such a thing is impossible.”
“Impossible, huh… Then let me ask you again. Why do you think you allowed Lux and me to be alone together until just now?”
“…That’s…”
“The answer is that you’ve been watching things other than Lux. If you can’t realize that, then at this rate, Lux and I really might end up together, you know?”
“…”
Perhaps she sensed that Elizalina wasn’t simply saying things to unsettle her.
Siana bit down hard on her lip.
This much guidance should be enough.
“…Oh, right.”
Remembering something she needed to confirm, Elizalina spoke again.
“Hey, Felisiana. This has nothing to do with which of us will end up engaged to Lux, so answer honestly. If Father were to suddenly stop being king, would that make you sad? Not because he fulfilled his duty or anything. I mean suddenly.”
“I want to make Lux-kun the king of this country, you know? There’s no way I’d feel sad about that.”
With her sharp insight, Elizalina could tell that Siana wasn’t putting on a brave face while secretly feeling sad.
She truly didn’t feel sad at all.
“I see. Then there’s one more thing I want to ask… Felisiana, which one matters more to you… Lux or Father?”
