Chapter 318: Judging Eye
Rezamilliana’s Side
…The day of the Inter-Royal Exchange Gathering had arrived.
Rezamilliana, together with her father, the King, was heading toward the hall in the royal castle where the event was being held.
“Finally, the day has come when you will have a fiancé, Rezamilliana.”
Along the way, the King spoke to her in that tone.
Then he continued, saying,
“It would be troubling if you, like Elizalina or Felisiana, became so infatuated with a man that you forgot your duties as royalty. But with you, I have been concerned precisely because you have lacked that sort of spirit… however, that worry ends today.”
“…Because my fiancé will be decided from among those attending today’s Inter-Royal Exchange Gathering?”
“Exactly.”
The King nodded and added, as if to clarify,
“Until now, your duties have imposed a great burden on you… I imagine you haven’t had the time to find a fiancé. But now, there is nothing to worry about. At the place we are about to arrive, you will be able to choose a fiancé from among those whose family background and abilities are excellent.”
“…”
Rezamilliana already knew what she intended to do today,
but since this was not the place to act, she forced herself to suppress her emotions.
Then, as the two of them walked down the corridor inside the castle…
“Huh? Father and Rezamilliana-oneesama! Well, it’s rare enough to see Sister Rezamilliana-oneesama, but Father walking down the corridor is unusual too!”
Midway along the corridor leading to the castle hall, they ran into Elizalina.
She continued,
“If Father is walking in the castle, it must be an important day, but is today really some kind of important day?”
Elizalina spoke in a deliberately playful tone, but the King replied in his usual manner,
“Today is the Inter-Royal Exchange Gathering where Rezamilliana’s fiancé will be decided… If you intend to give up on the man you currently like, a separate opportunity for you can be arranged immediately.”
“That’s impossible! I mean, Father, you’re the one choosing who participates in that gathering, right? I have better judgment than you, so why would I go to a place arranged by someone with worse judgment than mine… Just kidding! Totally joking! Besides, I already have a boy I like, so I don’t have time to talk to other men!”
“…Hmph.”
“Huh, I thought you’d get angrier, but you’re surprisingly calm… Could it be that you’re already doing something because you’re confident you can change my mind?”
“…”
The King frowned at her remark.
Elizalina took a step back and said,
“Sorry, sorry! If something this important is happening, I can’t waste time talking to you! I’d be a nuisance, so I’ll go right away!”
Saying that, Elizalina passed by the King’s side.
As she passed Rezamilliana, she leaned close enough for only her to hear and whispered,
“If there’s anyone gross, it’s fine to completely cut them down… I’ll make sure it doesn’t become a problem when you do it.”
Did she know that Rezamilliana would not actually choose a fiancé here?
Leaving only that remark behind, Elizalina turned her back to the King and Rezamilliana and walked away down the castle corridor.
“That one is a concern, but right now your Inter-Royal Exchange Gathering takes top priority… Let’s go.”
“Yes.”
Together with her father, Rezamilliana resumed walking.
She had no intention of acting on what Elizalina had said about cutting down foreign royals in such a public place.
But simply knowing that her beloved sister cared about her gave her a surge of strength.
And just before stepping into the hall, where the foreign royals were likely already waiting, Rezamilliana thought of Lux’s face and murmured inwardly,
I will confront you properly, and as the first princess who thinks for this country, I will pour out everything I want to convey to Father… and after I’ve given my all to Father, I will give this love to you…
