Chapter 384: A Difficult Problem

“This was supposed to be a discussion about overthrowing His Majesty the King and those aligned with him, but depending on how you look at it, we’ve been presented with something that could be called an even more difficult problem than that.”
Walking down a corridor in the royal castle after leaving the meeting room, Florence said this to Felisiana, who walked beside her.
Then she continued, asking,
“Third Princess, what do you think about what the Second Princess said earlier?”
By what Elizalina had said earlier, she was, of course, referring to the rule Elizalina had proposed for Lux’s sake.
Specifically, Elizalina had said,
“I want everyone, no matter what answer Lux arrives at, to accept it as long as it’s the happiness he chose. Simply put, even if you’re not the one Lux chooses, you should accept it gracefully.”
That was what she said.
If you truly care about Lux, then you should respect the happiness he chooses.
But precisely because they care about him, they can’t simply give up so easily.

If Florence, Felisiana, Elizalina, and Rezamiliana had no power at all, there would be no room to struggle with this issue in the first place.
Without power, no matter what answer Lux arrived at, they would have no choice but to accept it.
However… these four possess the intellect, authority, and power such that, if they exerted themselves fully, there is a possibility they could force Lux’s engagement to be revoked.
Despite having that power and their love for Lux, they would stand by and watch as Lux ends up with another woman.
No matter how much they told themselves it was for Lux’s sake, when they tried to imagine that future as something real, it wasn’t something they could accept so easily.
Using the word “uneasy” in that sense, Florence spoke, and Violet, who had remained silent until now, opened her mouth.
“However, I believe that, just as Elizalina-sama said, if you truly care for Rodwell-sama, then no matter what answer he arrives at, you should respect it and accept it.”
“Violet-sama…”
“…Even if Lux-kun chooses someone other than me, are you saying that I should, as Elizalina-anesama said, give up gracefully at that point?”
Given the flow of the conversation, it seemed Violet would nod at Felisiana’s words, but instead, she shook her head.
“That is not what I mean… I simply believe that even if Rodwell-sama were to present an unexpected answer that none of you have even considered, if you truly care for him, then you should respect it and accept it. After all, you all understand very well that Rodwell-sama is a kind person.”
Violet spoke gently.
An unexpected answer that none of us, myself included, have even been able to consider…
Does something like that really exist?
And how would Lux’s kindness connect to it?
