Chapter 414: A Glimpse of the New King
Felisiana’s Side
Everyone, Felisiana included, had been embracing Lux for a while, but…
Eventually, once their tears had settled, they all pulled away from him.
Then, at some point, Violet appeared without anyone noticing. She stepped forward, knelt on one knee before Felisiana and the others, and spoke.
“Everyone, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on your union… and on the birth of a new king for this nation.”
“…! Violet-san…!”
“Violet, thank you!”
“Violet-sama… thank you very much.”
“I appreciate your kind words.”
Following Lux, who murmured happily, Elizalina, Florence, and Rezamiliana spoke with bright expressions, and Violet responded with a gentler look than usual.
“Rodwell-sama. I am certain you will lead everyone here… as well as the people of this nation, onto a path of happiness. I will support you from the shadows, so if you ever face difficulties, please do not hesitate to give me your orders.”
“From the shadows…”
Whatever he was thinking,
Lux, having just received those encouraging words, lowered his gaze slightly.
“Is something wrong?”
Violet asked, puzzled, and Lux quickly shook his head.
“N-no! Thank you very much! Knowing someone like you will support me is incredibly reassuring!”
“I’m honored to hear that.”
Violet bowed her head deeply.
“…”
As Felisiana quietly watched Violet,
Lux shifted his gaze from her and turned toward Felisiana and the others.
“Oh, right… it’s a bit late to ask, but there’s something I’d like to ask all of you. Is that okay?”
“What is it?”
“Why didn’t you tell me that all of you were in such a serious situation with the king?”
Responding to Florence, Lux voiced his question.
It was something Felisiana and the others, who had kept the conflict out of Lux’s sight, had never been asked before.
But now that he had been involved at the very end, it seemed he had begun to question it.
“That’s because we didn’t want to drag you into unnecessary conflict, Lux,”
Elizalina answered immediately, but Lux still didn’t look convinced.
“But this matter wasn’t unrelated to me. Even so, all of you faced something dangerous on your own… I know I’m not that capable, but even so, I could have helped in my own way…”
“We didn’t hide it from you because we think you’re incapable, Lux-kun.”
“Huh…?”
“If anything, we recognize your strength and potential more than anyone.”
Hearing Felisiana and Rezamiliana’s words, Lux looked even more confused, as if a question mark hovered over his head.
“Then… why didn’t you tell me anything?”
Since they had involved him in the end anyway, they couldn’t hide their reasons now.
Deciding that, Felisiana answered honestly.
“It’s because… you’re kind, and very dear to us. We didn’t want you to step into such a brutal, bloodstained world.”
“…!”
Until now, Felisiana had often clashed with Florence and Elizalina, but…
On this matter alone, they had always agreed, and even now, no one objected.
“That kind of world doesn’t suit you, Lux-kun… so…”
“That applies to all of you too!!”
“…What?”
“All of you as well.”
Not understanding the meaning of Lux’s firm declaration, Felisiana was taken aback.
But Lux continued,
“That kind of world doesn’t suit any of you either. And I don’t want any of you, who mean so much to me, to be in such a place!!”
“…!?”
Lux’s words, overflowing with kindness yet strong enough to overturn their way of thinking, made everyone, including Felisiana, gasp in surprise.
Then, with unwavering resolve in his eyes, Lux spoke.
“I’ve made my decision… right here and now. As the new king of this country… I’ll build a nation where none of you ever have to face things like that… and more than that, I’ll make all of you happy!!”
“Lux-kun…”
“Lux…!”
“Lux-sama…”
“Rodwell…”
His voice cut through the darkness.
And in his expression and presence,
Still faint, yet unmistakable… the first signs of a new king had begun to emerge.
