Chapter 415: The Conclusion Between the Two
“That was so cool, Lux! You’re already starting to look like a new king, aren’t you?”
“Huh…!? R-really?”
As Elizalina stepped closer and said that, Lux showed a slightly embarrassed expression.
Then, Rezamiliana also moved closer to him.
“Yes… when you speak for the sake of others, with the light of kindness shining from within, you truly are worthy of being this country’s king.”
“Th-thank you very much… oh, right. I forgot to say this, but everyone… you’ve all been protecting me behind the scenes, haven’t you? I said that kind of thing doesn’t suit you, but… even so, you still protected me… thank you, truly.”
With that, Lux bowed his head to everyone.
It showed that while he didn’t want them to involve themselves in such darkness, he would never forget his gratitude for everything they had done for him.
“I just wanted to protect you, Lux-kun. There’s no need for you to bow.”
“That’s right.”
“Exactly!”
“Indeed.”
“Everyone… thank you so much!”
When Lux raised his head again, Elizalina spoke.
“Now that I think about it, there’s something I never got the chance to say…”
As she wrapped herself around Lux’s left arm,
“You’re not the only one who wants to make the person you love happy, you know? From now on, I’ll make you happy too… as your wife.”
“…!”
“Ah! Lux, your face is completely red! Hearing the word ‘wife’ embarrassed you, didn’t it?”
“‘Wife,’ huh… to be honest, until recently I never even imagined the day would come when I’d become the wife of the man I love, so it is a bit embarrassing…”
Saying that, Rezamiliana held onto Lux’s right arm.
“Both you and I will have to get used to how it sounds… though there’s no need to rush. We have plenty of time… as those who share love, we’ll grow used to it little by little as we live together.”
“Y-yes!”
Still blushing, Lux continued talking with Elizalina and Rezamiliana, who clung to each of his arms.
Then, Florence spoke to Felisiana.
“We have long been at odds over whether it was right or wrong to stain our hands with blood in order to protect Lux-sama, assuming we alone would bear that darkness… yet Lux-sama overturned that very premise.”
“Yes… I was prepared to do anything, no matter how dark, for Lux-kun’s sake… but I never imagined he would say that such things don’t suit kind people like us in the first place…”
“Indeed… it seems the long-standing conflict between us has finally come to an end.”
There was no reason to disagree with that.
“Yes.”
As Felisiana quietly accepted it, Florence then turned to Violet.
“…That aside, I was also surprised that Lux-sama chose everyone… but you had already realized that possibility, hadn’t you, Violet-sama?”
“Given my position, I was able to observe things from a somewhat more detached perspective than all of you… and considering Rodwell-sama’s kindness, I believed the possibility of him arriving at that answer was by no means low.”
“So when you said that even if Lux-kun gave an unexpected answer, we should accept and respect it… that’s what you meant. And that Lux-kun would fulfill my greatest wish.”
“Yes, exactly.”
Felisiana’s greatest wish.
That was to remain by Lux’s side forever.
Having faced the possibility of being rejected and no longer being able to stay with him, that wish had only grown stronger.
And in the end, Lux gave an answer that would make that wish come true.
“With all of you and Rodwell-sama, I am certain you will build a happy life… and a happy nation. I will support that from the shadows.”
“…”
“Now then, preparations for Rodwell-sama’s coronation will soon make things quite busy, so I will begin making arrangements to ensure everything proceeds as swiftly as possible. Please, the two of you, enjoy your time with Rodwell-sama… excuse me.”
After speaking politely, Violet bowed her head.
Then, she left the throne room.
Felisiana watched her departing figure with a sharp gaze.
Violet’s Side
After leaving the throne room, Violet walked through the castle corridors.
Just as she had anticipated, Lux had chosen everyone.
It differed from the original plan, but just as Felisiana had arranged, Felisiana and Lux ended up together.
From here on, Lux would love the four women, including Felisiana, enough to bring them the greatest happiness possible.
And she would support that happiness.
She would support the happiness of the master she revered… and the man she loved.
For a lady-in-waiting, there is no greater happiness.
With that thought, she continued walking.
And just as she was about to turn a corner…
“Violet.”
A voice called her name from behind.
When Violet turned around, she saw Felisiana, just as expected… but her expression was unusually serious.
Then, in a sharp tone, Felisiana spoke.
“You… are you really satisfied with this?”
